ONE of these can make enough shakes for the WHOLE family! These fruits are ready for harvest late winter/early spring. These fruits can be harvested when they reach maturity, but unlike the Key West cultivar, these fruits can hang out on the tree and be picked along with the Key Wests in the summer if desired. They will not overripen and fall off the tree...unless there's a hurricane, but that's a different story!
A fruit that goes by many names, there's nothing like the taste of these size varied specialties, which can only be described as pear with a touch of brown sugar- YUMMY!
These fruit trees do not flower all at once at the same time, therefore, instead of one big harvest, there are several small harvests throughout the year, luckily for the "Sap" lovers out there!
Fun fact: You can often find mature fruit, immature fruit, and flowers on the tree all at the same time as seen in this photo! Unlike the close cousin, the Sapodilla, this fruit is ready for one big complete harvest in the summer, typically July/August.
